Composite bonding

A dental technique used to create a straighter and whiter smile by molding composite on your teeth

What is Composite bonding?

Composite bonding is a resin material that can be used to rebuild teeth. The tooth is prepared by roughening the surface of the tooth at a microscopic level, then the tooth has a bonding agent applied to help the composite adhere to the tooth easily. The composite material is applied in layers and set with a curing light.

Once the composite is cured with the light it will solidify and patients can function on this as they would their natural teeth. Composite bonding is the least invasive treatment when considering cosmetic dental treatment.

Benefits of composite bonding

  • Cosmetic bonding is one of the least invasive cosmetic treatments, as the preparation of the tooth is really minimal.
  • Bonding is often offered as a cheaper alternative to porcelain veneers.
  • You can decide to have the composite taken off again. As the existing tooth structure is left intact.
