What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure that bleaches the shade of your natural teeth. It can be carried out in two forms.
First, there is in-chair whitening, which means you'll get a one-off treatment in the chair. Secondly, there is home whitening. Your dentist will provide you with a kit to carry out the treatment at home. Whitening at home happens in stages, where you will wear a thin whitening mouth guard, a few hours each day.
Teeth whitening does not harm the teeth in any way, provided the patient is dentally fit and has had a recent examination. It's likely you will need to repeat the process after a period of time.
Benefits of teeth whitening
Teeth whitening is considered as a minor cosmetic treatment. However, it has some great advantages over even the pricier ways to enhance a smile.
- It has a great impact at a relatively reasonable price tag
- Teeth whitening is not permanent. You are not committing to a complete new look for the rest of your life.
- Teeth whitening is a gradual process. The decision at which stage to stop is totally up to you, depending on when you are happy with the results.
